My work explores the vibrant and multifaceted inner worlds of women, capturing the fluid shifts in mood, emotion, and thought as we navigate life’s intricate paths. My subjects often dwell in quiet introspection-spaces of stillness that reveal the depth of the human spirit. Each day, we move through a kaleidoscope of roles: wife, mother, coworker, caregiver, friend. We tackle tasks, engage with others, and often hide behind facades. Yet, in solitude, those masks fall away, and we confront our inner struggles, finding strength in our fragility-silent yet alive, nostalgic yet resolute, brooding yet unbroken. This duality-vulnerability and power-is at the heart of my work. The eyes, hands, and gestures of my figures tell stories that words cannot, emotions rippling across the surfaces like whispered secrets. These faces and forms seem to exist within my surfaces, waiting to be coaxed into being. Their meaning remains intentionally ambiguous, inviting viewers to uncover their own narratives and engage in an intimate dialogue with the art.In a fractured and tumultuous world, this tension between strength and fragility feels universal yet deeply personal. When my birth country, Russia, invaded Ukraine, it felt as though part of my soul had been torn away. The war and displacement of millions awakened a profound grief and responsibility that I could not ignore. I turned to art, channeling this pain into work that, at first glance, appears serene and beautiful but is layered with echoes of human suffering, loss, and resilience. Through this exploration, I aim to reflect the strength in fragility and the hope that can emerge from despair-a quiet yet unyielding testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of war and displacement.
