International Women’s Day: the power of solidarity among women

March 8th is not just a date on the calendar, but a reminder of women’s strength, courage, and resilience worldwide. It is a day to celebrate the achievements gained, but also a moment to look beyond, to reach out to those still fighting for rights that we often take for granted. Above all, it is a day to rediscover the true essence of International Women’s Day: solidarity, recognizing each other, working together, and reminding ourselves that our strength lies in unity. Every step forward made by one of us is a step forward for all. Today, we choose to stand with those who are still fighting. We choose to be sisters, everywhere in the world.

There is something extraordinary about feeling understood and welcomed by other women. Female solidarity is that invisible thread that binds us together, allowing us to support one another in difficult times and rejoice together in successes. It is in the comforting words exchanged between friends, the strength of a mother supporting her daughter, and the complicity between women who help each other in a world often driven by sexism.

How many times have we heard stories of women who hold each other up, defend themselves against injustices, and help each other rise after a fall? These actions, often silent, are daily revolutions. Belonging to a group becomes essential, making us freer and more protected. And it is this unity that allows us to look beyond our borders, to feel in our hearts the pain of women who live in far harsher realities than ours.

There are places in the world where being born a woman means being condemned from childhood to a life of deprivation. Niger is one of these places. Here, too many girls have no right to childhood, because they are forced to marry before they even become adults. Too often, their voices go unheard, and their dreams are shattered. Imagine, for a moment, being in their shoes. Being 12 years old and leaving school because someone decided your job is to become a wife and mother. Girls, like all of us, forced to give up their dreams, hopes, and talents. Girls have the right to an education, childhood, and life without fear. And it is here that our female solidarity can make a difference.

Some organizations work daily to ensure education and a better life for these girls so they can envision a different future. MAEC and the Académie du Rugby are among these realities: through educational, sports, and social projects, we help the girls of Niger build a better future.

Large gestures are not always necessary; sometimes, it takes little: getting informed, raising awareness, supporting humanitarian projects, or donating what you can to help a girl’s education.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, send your help to the girls of Niger. Along with your donation, you can send us a message or a letter, which we will deliver to the girls who, thanks to your generous gesture, can go to school and forever change their future.
